Research Alliance Manager at RI Science and Technology Advisory Council
The Rhode Island Science and Technology Advisory Council seeks a senior level person to join its leadership team. This person will take responsibility for building out the Rhode Island Research Alliance program and lead the Alliance through its next phase of activity.
The Rhode Island Research Alliance was created in 2006 by STAC to serve as a platform to promote collaboration among the state's research universities, research hospitals, corporations and government agencies, maximize state and federal investment in research and enhance the state's R&D-related economic development opportunities. The incumbent will oversee all activities related to the Alliance's evolution and expansion. This position will take the lead in working with key stakeholders to assess research capabilities at each institution and determine opportunities for multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional efforts. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting and organizing information from a myriad of complex resources and constituencies. One initial project will include the production of a report that summarizes new pathways to collaboration and connectivity among the Rhode Island research community and a roadmap for expanding Research Alliance activities.
Incumbent will also take responsibility for programmatic support for the existing activities of the Research Alliance including the Collaborative Grant Awards program, the Collaborative Research Web Portal and events and activities that promote collaborative research and benefit member organizations.

Nature of Role: Reporting to the VP of Business Development, this individual directs, establishes, maintains and plans the overall policies and goals of the business development team. He/She identifies potential business partners and negotiates agreements. The ability to interact with clients from project initiation through the entire development process is a must.
Requirements/Qualifications:

Seeking a Business Development Professional
The Business Innovation Factory is seeking a business development professional to assist with the development and execution of an outreach strategy in support of the BIF-4 Collaborative Innovation Summit. Candidate must successfully develop and execute against a plan to assist BIF in attracting target participants to the Summit and fulfilling our sponsorship objectives. Activity is set to begin in early April and the first phase of activity will conclude in early September. Follow-on engagement likely if initial phase of work is successful.
Now in its fourth year, the BIF Collaborative Innovation Summit has earned a national reputation for its unique storytelling approach to an event that has been described as more conversation than conference. Storytellers get 15 minutes on stage and must commit to sharing a personal story about their first-hand experience creating innovation and driving change. This means no canned presentations and no company infomercials.

Seeking a Full-Time Junior Designer
This is an entry-level position. Custom Designs is a Point of Purchase manufacturer located in North Kingstown, RI. They design and manufacture retail display solutions for industries such as eye wear, foot wear, and consumer electronics. They are seeking an Industrial Designer interested in working in the Point of Purchase Design field. The ideal candidate should be a creative, talented, highly motivated individual, with a strong interest in POP and retail design. The candidate will work with a Creative Director to produce POP solutions in form of anything from sketches to digital presentation renderings. Other tasks will include: preparation of silk screen art work, sample graphics, and instruction sheets. Will be working in close contact with engineering and sample departments.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- BFA in industrial design or related design discipline
- Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience in 3D modeling and rendering (preferable Form Z)
- Good sketching and visual communication skills
- Experience in POP industry is a plus, but not required
- Excellent work ethic
- Solid understanding of manufacturing techniques and materials
- Good product photography skills is a plus
